For our online session this Saturday 26th September 2020 we are going to experiment with block printing inspired by the work that was produced in the sketchbook walks over the last two weeks don’t worry of you couldn’t make it – we will be looking at the photographs that have been sent in below at our source of inspiration, that have also been put on the website here.
For the session you need to raid your recycling and find the following:
Lots of Cardboard, Tins, plastics, egg boxes, bottle tops, string, anything that might make a good shape or texture…
You will need Acrylic paint – lots of colours, brushes, plates (several for mixing colours) and water, water sprayer.
Lots of thick sheets of paper, lots of small pieces for test sheets – odd sizes will do, different colours too!
You will also need PVA Glue or Washing Up liquid to thicken the paint
Plus scissors or a sharp knife, masking tape/or strips of paper and cling film if you have it
- We will do a warm up using our bodies and minds…
- Then into a series of exercises using paints and block making experiments – watch the video – to get an idea of the type of printing that we will be doing
- Then continue creating delicious and adventurous block printing marks inspired by the images below…
