Printing Autumn Online session

For our online session this Saturday 17th October 2020 we are going to be inspired by the Harvest Festival and all its produce, we are up for the challenge of experimenting with Printing Autumn.

For this session you need to collect your fruit and vegetables and arrange them into a still life and then have some extras at hand to cut up to use for printing – the best to use are cabbage leaves, cucumbers, onions, small button mushrooms, celery, corn on the cob…

Materials

  • Pencils 2B +
  • Coloured Pencils
  • Acrylic Paints + or Watercolours or Watercolour Inks
  • Paper – Large Size – Try a roll of lining paper
  • Coloured paper – colour it yourself prior to the session using watercolour inks or natural materials
  • Water Coloured Paper if your have some
  • Brushes – flat and wide
  • Plastic sheets to put the paint on or flat plates
  • Clothes
  • Water

Session Details

  • We will do a warm-up using our bodies and minds…
  • We will set up the Still Life of Autumn Fruit and Vegetables
  • Then into a series of exercises looking at the Still Life Pencils – 2B + & coloured pencils making delicious BOLD lines marks experiments, drawing around the shapes of our foliage on our little squares…

    • Repeated lines – backward – forwards
    • other hand
    • blind
    • 360/180/90/45 degree sketches
  • Then using our big sized paper using the coloured pencils we will create a large outlines
  • We will use the paints and and start to block out the shapes
  • We will we start print the fruit and vegetables – using the acrylic paints + watercolour inks
