Sketching the beach, dunes and sea, Online session

For our online session this Saturday 25th July 2020 we are going to create images of the Beach, the sand dunes and the sea… using our imagination we will be helped by sounds and videos of the sea and seaside and still images of the sea, and items found on the beach…

Materials you will require:

  • We want you to work with coloured pencils
  • If you have them coloured water pencils
  • Watercolours
  • Gouache
  • Paint brushes – fine and flat brushes if you have them
  • Use watercolour paper if not then you can use lining paper (you can get this from B&Q or any hardware store)
  • Sticks – (BBQ sticks)
  • Masking tape or any tape to tape the stick to the paint brush – please see below for details)

Session Details: Sketching the beach, dunes and sea, Online session

  • We will do a warm up
  • We will look at images of the sea from other artists
  • Then into a series of exercises listening to Sea Sounds
    • creating delicious and adventurous marks
    • using the coloured pencils
    • using both hands
    • using severals pencils at once
    • continuous line
    • blind
    • light and heavy marks
  • Then into a series of longer sketches listening to sea sounds
    • creating marks with watercolour using the paint brushes extended on sticks
  • Then into a longer sketch using either watercolour or coloured pencil or both.

When: Saturday 25th July 2020

Time: 10:45am – 12:30 noon This time we are going for an extra 1/2 hour!!
Starting at 11:00am prompt
