Sketchbook Walks

Beach Sketchbook Walk

On Saturday 19th September 2020 we are having a sketchbook walk this is a follow-on from our amazing Mindful Photography workshop that happened last week!

We would like you to join our Gwendraeth Arts Lab Artists on the Burry Port Beach for a sketchbook walk to express your feelings about the Carmarthen Bay Power Generation Plant, which was demolished in 1990. Observing the demolition landscape and considering the extensive natural erosion of the beach and the man-made and natural cliffs, which has exposed fragments of machinery and the original structures.

We just wanted to say a huge thank you to everyone that took part in the ‘Drawing on the Past” Sketchbook Walks, supported and participants at our Mural Painting Day at the Kidwelly Industrial Museum.

All involved produced an amazing piece of work and it’s all due to the wonderful participants who have been so committed and have been wonderfully creative and inspiring over the last few months.

We hope that all that have been involved will be able to continue with us on our next adventure.

In the mean time here are few images of our mural painting day… enjoy!

Today is our Mural Painting Day

It’s finally here – all our hard work and the support of the Big Lottery Fund has resulted in us producing ‘Drawing on the Past’ Mural Painting Day at the Kidwelly Industrial Museum.

Thanks to the support of the Trustees of the Museum we are able to put on the this event.

Starting at 11am this morning we will have a morning (11am -1pm) and afternoon (2pm-4pm) session of painting the Reception Building at the museum.

We will have a community lunch at 1-2pm kindly produced by Caffi Iechyd Da it will be free to all the mural participants.

We also have a Kidwelly Black Cat Trail – suitable to the under 12’s

And last but not least we have produced an exhibition of all the work that has been produced over the last 2 sketchbook walks in the Kidwelly area,

**Also we have a free bus that will be shuttling people for Kidwelly Town Square to the Museum curtesy of Burns Pet Food.

We would like to say a huge thanks to the community for supporting our events and are looking forward to our next project…

Thanks to Lucy, Sian and Lindsey in prepping the site ready for today – Roz due to illness has been supporting on the digital front.
